Congratulations to Kelila Rustin and Tyson McDiarmid who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for May.  Both student-athletes were recognized at last Thursday’s May student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.

Sports: Soccer 4 yrs. (All-Conference)

Academics: CAAC Academic All-Conference, IHS Scholar-Athlete, IHS Bulldog Scholar, and IHS Senior Scholar.

Leadership: Team Captain and MVP

May Male Athlete of the Month: Tyson McDiarmid

Parents: Cory and Sarah McDiarmid 

Career Path: Plans to become and electrician

Sports: Baseball Honorable Mention All-Conference

Academics: CAAC Academic All-Conference, CAAC Top 10 Senior Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar-Athlete, IHS Bulldog Scholar, and IHS Senior Scholar.

Leadership: Coach Lundstrom said “I have coached Tyson for 3 yrs. and in those three years I’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth in Tyson’s maturity, leadership and self motivation. Tyson goes all in when he commits, leads by example and has been a very important part of our success.

Kelila and Tyson are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for May!
