The Ionia girls entered the final CAAC White dual meet in Eaton Rapids knowing it was going to be a challenging meet.  The Ionia Girls performed well to meet the challenge by earning 24 PR's and finishing first in 8 of 17 events.  Haliey Fuentes 1st; 100 Meter  Dash (13.55)PR,  Angelyn Hyde 1st in the 400 Meter Dash (1:04.74)PR, Clara Deeren finished 1st in the 1600 (6:00.20)PR and 3200  Meter Run (13:34.28).  The girls wer only able to win 1 of the 4 relays.  The team of Maddie Hanulcick, Clara Deeren, Avery Roundtree, and Angelyn Hyde won the 4 X 800 Relay (10:40.28)PR.  In the field events the girls won 3 of 5 events; In the High Jump (4'-8") Kassidy Cassilas, Tess Griffith, and Drew Wachowski all tied with Kassidy gaining a PR.  In the Long Jump Kassidy Cassilas jumped 14'-1" and Tess Griffith bested the field with a jump of  8'-0"

The team effort resulted in the Lady Dogs matching the boys record: 5-1 Overall and 5-0 in the CAAC White Division.  Ionia Travels to Alma on Friday for an 8 team varsity Invitational.  There is a JV Championship Meet at St. Johns on Monday May 17th. The Division 2, Region 13 meet is next Friday May 21, 202 with opportunities to qualify for the MHSAA State meet in June and the CAAC White Championship meet will be held on Wednesay May 26, 2021.
