Ionia boys Cross Country competed against Forest Hills Eastern, Belding, and Grand Rapids Covenant Christian in a quad meet Saturday morning.  In the Varsity race, team results were: 1st place: Forest Hills Eastern (32 points), 2nd place: GR Covenant Christian (57 points), 3rd place: Ionia (66 points), and 4th place: Belding (71 points). Top finishers for Ionia were Heath LaPointe (4th place, with a Season Record (SR) of 17:22), Jacob Montgomery (9th place, with a Personal Record (PR) of 17:45), Josiah Magley (16th place, SR 18:15), Riley Husted (18th place, SR 18:18), Xander Lange (19th place, with a PR of 18:30), Andrew Gerdes (22nd place, 18:51), and Harrison Yenchar (26th place, 19:04.2).  Other personal records that were set today included freshman Tyson Evans at 19:04.8 and junior Demetri Davis at 19:09. Boys with new Season Records in the race were: Lukas Schafer (19:04.6), Connor Clark (19:32), Adam Frost (20:10), and Zane Hensley (20:16)

In the JV race, Ionia boys came in 2nd place with 53 points behind GR Covenant Christain (24 points). Cameron Simmons finished in 3rd with a SR of 20:47, Alex Bushee was 4th with PR of 20:50, Ryan Trierweiler had a SR of 21:42, Lincoln Denis had a PR of 28:51, and Karson Hagen had a PR of 45:21.The Cross Country team competes next Friday, September 18th in Lansing against Belding, Lansing Catholic, and Shepherd.
