The A Team started off slow in the first quarter and fell behind 17-3. The second quarter saw the girls rally and play competitive. Going into halftime they were down 28-15. Our goal in the third was to continue to play hard and to keep our heads up. Our effort changed and at the end of the third we were down 38-24. The girls turned on the defense and was able to cut the lead into single digits. They outscored Waverly in the final quarter 15-9. Unfortunately, Ionia ran out of time and lost 47-39.
Leading scorers were Kyra Williams, who hit 7 threes and ended with 21 points. Lilly Reams had 8 points and Mimose Sandborn had 7 points. Ionia is now 0-6.
Next game is tomorrow which is a makeup game with Charlotte.
