Congratulations to Stevie Gross and Henry Castle who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for May.  Both student-athletes will be recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the May IHS student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

May Female Athlete of the Month: Stevie Gross

College: University of Michigan

Major: Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience

Sports: Basketball 3 yrs., and Track & Field 4 yrs

Academics: Salutatorian, 2025 CAAC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar-Athlete, and IHS Bulldog Scholar.

Leadership: IHS National Honor Society, College Ambassador Program, and Team Captain Track.

May Male Athlete of the Month: Henry Castle

Parents: Michelle and Matthew Castle

College: Michigan State University

Major: Computer Engineering

Sports: Football, Basketball, and Track all 4 years.  Has earned the Block I Award.  All-Conference Honors in Football and Track and Field 

Academics: 2025 CAAC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar-Athlete, and IHS Bulldog Scholar.

Leadership: IHS National Honor Society, Technology Committee, Principal Advisory Committee, Vice President of the Superintendent's Advisory Committee.

Both Stevie and Henry are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for May!
