The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team traveled to Uncle John’s Cider Mill to race in the St. Johns Last Chance Invitational.  The meet is open to any athletes who did not qualify for the state finals.  The emphasis is on individual improvement so no official team scores are kept.  Runners who race to a personal best time earn a medal, regardless of place.  Five Bulldogs medaled by virtue of their personal bests.  Tyson Evans placed 3rd in 18:13.  Jaxxon Thelen placed 11th in 18:58. Dalles Bailiff raced to 15th place in 19:12.  Cadence Denis-Griffith also medaled, clocking a 21:13, good for 39th place.  Payton Baker was the final medalist for Ionia, lowering his pr to 26:05 to place 57th.  In addition to these medalists, Ellis Yokom was the top Bulldog finisher, placing 2nd in 17:50.  Alex Bushee placed 9th in 18:57. Lincoln Denis was 20th in 19:31.  Gabe Holman finished 54th in 23:31.  It was also encouraging that the Bulldog #2 - #6 outscored the #2 - #6 of league champion Eaton Rapids 40-58.  

Junior Jacob Montgomery will be in action at the MHSSA D2 State Finals on Saturday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway.
